PGA TOUR BARBASOL Championship Statement on the Passing of Tom Murray

VIP and General Admission tickets available beginning at 9am

NICHOLASVILLE, KY (April 6, 2023) – “The PGA TOUR Barbasol Championship mourns the passing of Perio (parent company of the Barbasol and Pure Silk brands) CEO Tom Murray,” said Barbasol Tournament Director Darren Nelson. Murray passed away peacefully on 22 March 2023, with Melanie, his wife of over forty years by his side. “The words ‘passion’ and ‘commitment’ only begin to scratch the surface of defining the type of man Tom was. Whether it was in the boardroom, on the course, or in the community, Tom made the world a better place for everyone. Tom was a good and decent man of faith who cared deeply about his family, friends, the game of golf, and bettering the lives of those in need.”

“I consider it a privilege to have crossed paths with Tom – his generosity of spirit and deep care for his family was felt by all who met him,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “He will be sorely missed by our PGA TOUR family and everyone he encountered within the greater golf community. No doubt, the game of golf benefited from Tom’s true love of the game. From his support of the Barbasol Championship and many PGA TOUR members over the years, to his groundbreaking alliance with the LPGA, we are collectively better off because of Tom’s countless contributions.”

Murray was a regular each year at the Barbasol Championship since it debuted in 2015. He embraced the time he was able to spend with players and fans and was especially fond of playing in the annual Pro-Am.

The thoughts and prayers of the PGA TOUR, Barbasol Championship, and the greater golf community are with Melanie, their children and grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
